could name it "pre 1.7 pvp" and then just call the new one "pvp" [pvp, survival, whatever the world is]

I concur, Freek. It makes it so villages and such are also much easier to find and ruins the experience for anybody wanting to have fun. Also, I think some items should be artificially added into the game, such as Mycelium, which would be 100% unobtainable in a world without a mushroom island. Some various items may be given as well if needed, perhaps a public end portal of sorts, so farming of ender pearls and XP can take place. But I also think that the Ender Dragon, if this does happen, should be taken down as a group so it's not just the first person who happens to be on can kill it. Get a time that everybody can collect, like a month in, and kill the dragon and start the farm then. Just so nobody gets a massive advantage. One dragon kill = 120+ XPL and that's a full suit of armor level 30. Not cool if you steal that.

With the construction of a new PvP map there could be an artificially made shroom island, but not just adding random blocks of it.

If everything, including villages were visible for everybody, all fun of exploring (one of the Great Features of Minecraft) will be gone. Also there is no fun out of villages when all villagers are dead and the village is raided completely, this would mean only the people on the first day would be able to raid all of the villages...
